Convert1

One place for video, audio and photo conversion

Convert1 turns clips, songs, voice notes, GIFs and photos into the format you need with 74 free tools. The media is decoded and re-encoded on your computer or phone, so a 4 GB phone video never has to travel to a server first.

Your hardware does itWebCodecs taps the video encoder built into your graphics chip; FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly covers the rest.

Built for media files

Video and audio are the files that hurt most on upload-based converters: a ten-minute 4K clip can be several gigabytes, and the free tiers stop at one. Convert1 skips the transfer completely. Your browser reads the file, the conversion runs in a background worker, and the result is written back to your downloads folder.

Photos get the same treatment. iPhone HEIC pictures, WebP images saved from websites and huge PNG exports can be turned into JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF in batches, with an optional resize so they are ready to post or attach.

What speed to expect

Changing the container, for example MKV to MP4 with the same H.264 stream inside, is close to instant because nothing has to be re-encoded. Re-encoding video is limited by your processor and graphics chip: a recent laptop usually handles 1080p faster than real time, while an older phone may take about as long as the clip itself.

Audio is light work by comparison. Extracting the soundtrack from a film or turning a WAV recording into MP3 normally takes a few seconds per track.
