How to use the Resize Image
- Add pictures or a folder. JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, TIFF, BMP, SVG and JPEG XL are accepted.
- Choose Resize by: percentage, width, height, fit inside a box, or exact width × height.
- Type the numbers, and pick a Save as format if you want something other than the original.
- Press Resize and download each picture or the full ZIP.
Choosing a mode
Width or height keeps the proportions, which suits a site that asks for pictures 1200 pixels wide. Fit inside a box is handy for a mix of portrait and landscape shots: each is scaled to sit within the box, and smaller pictures are left at their size instead of being blown up.
Exact width × height forces both numbers and stretches the picture if its shape differs, so use it only when the proportions already match, such as a 16:9 frame going to 1280 × 720. For anything else, crop to the right ratio first.
Keeping it sharp
Big reductions happen in stages, halving the picture repeatedly with smoothing before the final step. That avoids the jagged edges and moiré a single large jump can produce, so text in screenshots stays readable.
You can scale up to 400% or 16384 pixels per side, but enlarging cannot create detail that was never there; the picture simply gets softer. Lossy output is saved at quality 90 unless you change it under More settings.
Questions
Will my file stay the same format?
By default, yes. HEIC is the exception and becomes JPG, because browsers cannot write HEIC; SVG is saved as PNG.
What size suits a video thumbnail?
Many platforms use 1280 × 720. Pick Width, enter 1280, and a 16:9 frame comes out at exactly that.
Does it handle animated GIFs?
No. GIF and ICO are not accepted here, since resizing would lose the animation or the extra icon sizes.
