How to use the Compress Image to 50KB
- Pick one picture or a whole batch from your phone or computer.
- Leave the target at 50 KB and choose JPG or WebP.
- Under More settings, choose the fill colour for transparent areas or set a size if you want one.
- Compress and read the final size shown for each file before saving.
How much picture fits in 50 KB
Fifty kilobytes holds a clean JPG of roughly eight hundred to a thousand pixels on the long edge, which is plenty for an avatar, a listing thumbnail or a scan someone reads on screen. Larger phone photos are scaled down automatically until they fit.
WebP squeezes noticeably more detail into the same budget. Use it when the destination takes .webp files, and stay with JPG when you are not sure, since practically every form accepts that.
Screenshots and cut-outs
Transparent PNGs saved as JPG get a solid background, white unless you pick black or light grey under More settings. Choosing WebP keeps the transparency instead.
Screenshots full of small text struggle most at this size. Cropping to the part you actually need before compressing gives the remaining pixels more of the 50 KB and keeps text legible.
Several pictures, one cap
Listing photos for a sale or a set of stills from a clip can go through together: each one is searched separately, so a simple picture keeps a high quality while a busy one gets whatever the limit allows.
Because everything is worked out by your browser, there is no daily quota and no waiting for a server. Close the tab and nothing remains anywhere but your downloads folder.
Questions
Can I set 48 KB to leave a margin?
Yes, type any number. The target is a ceiling, and a little headroom helps with sites that count 1000 bytes per KB.
Do iPhone HEIC photos work?
Yes. They are decoded in the browser and saved as JPG or WebP under the limit.
